The treatment applicator is swept back and forth repeatedly across the designated area whist rapid pulses of low energy light are pulsed into the skin ensuring full coverage and effective treatment.
Unlike traditional laser or IPL, using high energy levels that may cause discomfort and pain, a SMARTDiode treatment is gentle and comfortable, resulting in a pleasant warming of the skin. Active skin cooling through the applicator ensures complete comfort even in the most sensitive areas.
The heat from the laser causes the hair to die off and detatch from the hair follicle then after 5-10 days the hairs may fall out (which you may notice when washing/exfoliating however please do not pull at these hairs as it affects the effectiveness of the treatment) before the hairs detatch you may still notice stubble growing through but slower than normal. As you go through the course of treatment you may notice this less as you have less hair in the area/the hairs are finer.
Hair growth is not synchronized, we will always have hair present, in a variety of growth stages.
At any one time, only a small % of the hairs in a given treatment area are in the correct Anagen stage, which is why laser hair removal treatments must be repeated. Each time we treat the area, the actual number of hairs treated will reduce, e.g.:
If there are 100 hairs on an area of the leg, treatment 1 = 20% of the hairs are
treated, 20 are gone, leaving 80 hairs remaining. Treatment 2, 20% of 80 hairs are treated, i.e. 16 are gone, 64 remain. Treatment 3, 20% of 64 hairs are treated, i.e. 13 are gone, 51 remain, etc.
Which is why a course of treatments is indicated.
